For 2021 and 2022, we are excited to recognize Joe Nimble® as the Official Shoe of Badwater®, but this is not a new partnership. Joe Nimble is the performance division of Bär Shoes and back in 2008 Bär was our Official Shoe partner and a large percentage of the 2008 competitors ran in their shoes with great success. We are excited to be working with Bär and Joe Nimble again; all 2021 and 2022 Badwater 135 competitors will be receiving a pair of special, limited edition, Badwater-inspired Joe Nimble shoes!

Joe Nimble® is the creator of the Functional Footwear design concept based on the philosophy of toefreedom® which CEO Sebastian Bär’s father developed 40 years ago.  Together with world renowned bio-mechanist Lee Saxby and other industry experts, Sebastian has taken these four decades of family shoe-making know-how and created a shoe concept that helps runners to run pain-free.

Sebastian was originally inspired when crewing at the 2007 Badwater 135 Ultramarathon and seeing top ultra-athletes cutting open the front of their shoes and going through multiple pairs, while his runners only needed one pair from start to finish.
